Sean is one of the founders of Challenge Capital. He has extensive commercial experience including over 25 years leading Corporate Finance and Restructuring assignments and transactions. Unlike most advisors he has also sat in the MD’s chair in a start up business so his knowledge is well informed by experience. His focus is now a mixture of Corporate Finance Advisory and Non Executive roles.
He is a member of the Corporate Finance Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and holds their Corporate Finance Qualification. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3).
Sean has worked across the whole business lifecycle, from the extremes of young business looking to raise money to fund growth, through to those in financial difficulty and needing help to survive. Most of his life is spent with businesses somewhere in the middle! Whatever the situation, he has a reputation for being able to identify the issues quickly and to develop and implement a strategy to address them.
Sean’s experience spans a wide range of sectors, in particular, he has spent much of the last 15 years working with businesses in the Marine Renewables sector. He is one of the few people with hands on knowledge of the challenges facing that sector and is currently working with a number of offshore wind businesses.
As his background suggests, Sean is financially literate but his key focus is development and delivery of commercial strategies He believes in teamwork, but is not afraid to lead from the front and is not known for avoiding the difficult issues! Sean is married with three children and spends his spare time sailing and watching (and very occasionally playing) Rugby although time on the pitch is now a bit of a distant memory.
